Reinforced Mesh Sizes and Prices

Chemvet Steel and Fencing stocks quality wire and wire products for the construction industry. Like reinforcing bars (rebar), reinforcing mesh is embedded in concrete to add the necessary degree of tensile strength to support large loads; the two materials are almost interchangeable in vertical and horizontal structures. Mesh, however, differs from rebar in that it may be used to shape structures at the same time as supporting them, but is disadvantaged by an inability to be anchored to the ground.

Our reinforcing mesh is manufactured from hard-drawn wire and deformed cold-rolled wire with a minimum ultimate tensile strength of 510 MPa. It features a unique deformed wire pattern, known as the curry pattern, which facilitates superior bonding, stress-distribution and crack-width control. Our reinforcing mesh is made according to SABS standards (SANS 1024:2012). Reinforcing mesh is 2,4 x 6 m in length, but we can size it to customers' specifications when required. All wire is hard-drawn according to SABS standards and tested as per SANS 920:2011 and SANS 6892-1:2010. Wire can be supplied in coil form, ranging from 500-3000 kg or in lengths from 200-13000 mm.

Features of Reinforcing Mesh:

  • The unique deformed wire pattern offers superior bonding, improved stress distribution and crack-width control.
  • Reinforcing mesh is available in a wide range of diameters and apertures. The product can be bent to shape as required.
  • Manufactured from hard drawn wire (smooth) and cold rolled wire (deformed).
  • All intersections are resistant-welded thereby not reducing the tensile strength of the wires.
  • Mesh has an average shear strength equal to 80% of the wire strength.
  • The wire used has physical properties which are rigidly controlled to produce mesh with maximum weld strength combined with ductility.
  • Specifications allow for cold rolled wire with a minimum ultimate tensile strength of 510Mpa and a high resistance to fatigue.
  • Mesh is available in black (pre-galvanised) and galvanised sheets or rolls.
